Although an old market adage advises investors to “Sell in May and Go Away”, it turns out that – in contrast – April (the month before we’re supposed to go away) is historically quite a good month. As shown in the chart below, data from LPL Research and FactSet shows that the month of April is the single best month to be invested in the market over the last 20 years, and the second best over the past 10 years. Of course, previous market history is no guarantee of future results!
