As everyone knows, we are in a trade war of sorts with China over imports, exports and tariffs. Simply put, we want to sell more stuff to China with fewer restrictions and tariffs. There is one area, usually overlooked in these discussions, that has been growing rapidly – and in our favor: tourism. We “sell” tourism to China in a very big way, and it is (so far, at least) done with no tariffs and few restrictions above and beyond the usual visa requirements. Here, from the most recent data available from the Commerce Department, is a chart showing that China is far and away the source of more tourist dollars than any other country on earth.
